I am so lame. Not posting for so long again. Laziness. I have gone thrifting a couple times but have not found anything particularly exciting.
I have seen Midtown Dickens, Cursive, and Capgun Coup recently. I suppose I should write about that. Maybe later. I would definitely like to talk about Midtown Dickens, since most of you probably don't know them. But I need to upload pics and whatnot and I am lazy.
Ummm...what other news??? Not much that I can think of right now. It's finally gotten cold here, which is kind of exciting. I've gotten to vary my wardrobe a bit. "Wardrobe" is a weird-looking word when you stare at it for a minute.
I've been listening to a lot of 2009 releases in order to attempt a "best of" list, which is going to be hard.
This weather is making me sleepy.

You smashed a plate over my head, then I set fire to our beh-ee-eh-ed
Quick outfit post. I love what the light was doing here. That was totally unexpected!

Gypsy woman spoke to me
So I finally wore my bright yellow jeans and that Salarmy shirt I bought and this belt I've had forevs and never wore. Mmmhmmm

Sorry for my blurry photos!! I think it was the dim light.

shirt-thrifted, pants-TJ Maxx, boots, belt, necklace-Target
So I know I like to pretend I'm this super hip thrifter person, but I actually get a helluva lot of shit from Target. And TJ Maxx too. I love those stores.

Home is wherever I'm with you
Doooo0000ooood. Damnit. Shoot. See, today I was gonna go out to this pawn shop to check out their guitars on the off chance someone pawned a Gibson. ha and mostly I decided to go out there because I left some food at work and the pawn shop is close to work, so I thought I'd make the trip to that part of town to pick up my food before somebody ate it (this would sooo totally happen. I mean, it didn't have my name on it). Anyways, thought "I should drop off some of these old clothes at Flashback's....and mayyyybe I guess I could stop at one or 2 thrift stores...just to looooook."
So GCM is still having this 50% off sale this whole week. AND THEY HAD NEW STUFF SINCE MONDAY. WHAAAAAATTTTTT?!??!?!
Ignore my slightly retarded expression:

Oooooh love those colors and CHEVRON STRIPES. I forgot how hot those look. This dress is so comfy too. That's why I bought it!!!
AND THAT IS ALL I BOUGHT BECAUSE I AM THRIFTY.
BUT HERE'S SOME OTHER STUFF I TRIED ON (AND MAYBE SHOULDA BOUGHT?!?!??!)

I think this is supa cute, but it's 2 pieces and you can't tell, but the skirt was a wee bit tight. Actually it prolly fit just exactly right, but I just don't particularly like things snug around my waist. Makes me feel confined and unable to breath and fat and stuff. I just dunno if I would have worn it for that reason. I guess it could possibly be adjusted to be more comfortable but....whatev.
HA THESE PANTZ:

They're so silly. The shape. I dunno. They fit perfectly but I just don't see myself wearing them. Same with the top. But I'm not sure. 'Tis quite a cute shirt. Meh.

I basically picked up every dress that looked small enough for me, but I then realized this one had TIGERS AND LEOPARDS ON IT. HAHA but it looks like somebody made it or something because the fabric on the front panel of the skirt part appears to be upside down.
SEE?:

FUGLY!!!!

A bit too severe looking. That shirt is made for someone with a really long neck. But this skirt is kinda whack (in a good way):

Damn, I love old lady clothes.
I've wanted something like this ever since I saw this Fan Death video (I love Dandi's style):

But this was way too big. I tried hand-clipping it and I think it's sposed to fit more like this:

And last but not least, giraffe shrug:

Woulda gotten it but the right sleeve felt stretched out and it wanted to fall over my hand and just get in the way. Basically I am not supposed to be spending money and trying not to overflow my closet even more, otherwise I would have bought most of these things!!!
On an unrelated note, why have I not been seeing anything in the blogosphere about Edward Sharpe & the Magnetic Zeroes?
Sorry, the best quality vid I could find was on Letterman...
HOW FUN ARE THEY?!?!?! Must see them live ASAP.

I sank into the sea, wrapped in piano strings
Went thrifting today. 4 stores, $16.80---3 pairs of shoes, a sweater, jacket, romper, and jeans. More than I should have spent but what can I say? I have an addiction.
And the one store was playing Handel's Messiah and the cashier was saying "everything in the store is 50% off to celebrate our 5 years in business" and then the music was all like "HALLLLLLELUJAH!!!" It seemed appropriate.
BAYUM!!!

WTF? This sweater was just too weird. I had to get it.

I have too many sweaters to live in Florida. I need to move somewhere where there are more than 5 days a year to wear them.
Tried on this ugly children's dress:

It was actually a little big! I dunno. I didn't figure I'd ever wear it.
Shazam!

Rompers are all the rage these days, though this one's big baggy shorts are kinda weird. I might attempt to shorten/take them in. Who am I kidding? Will I really do that? We'll see.
Found me this jacket:

This picture doesn't do justice to how vibrant it is. It's way more purple than this actually, but for some reason it looks blue in this pic. Dangz.
I didn't even bother trying this dress on:

It was a size 14. But look at this print!:

It's so ridic, I would totally wear it. This style of dress is so common to find. I mean, this cut with the elastic waist, generally designed to be worn with a belt but most of the time the belts are missing. Anyone know what these kind of dresses are called?
I tried on another children's dress:

It fit cuz the top was stretchy, but it looks like I'm about to bust out of it hulk-style. Kinda funny. I decided not to get it, but it is kinda cute. I am just such a sucker for florals these days.
I don't take pictures of myself trying on shoes!!! I can't believe I found 3 pairs I liked in my size today. I should do a shoe photoshoot and post all my thrifted shoes in one big post. Hawt.
HAY. I really like Sea Wolf a lot.

Zippity doo dah
Whew! I just got home from a weekend in Tallahassee. This past week or so has been crazy. I will use that as an excuse for not posting.
1. I played The Fest
2. I saw Madeline at The Fest
3. we had Halloween. Here is my costume:

I was a midwest diva.
4. I saw Why? and AU
5. I saw Peaches

6. I went to the State Fair

7. I saw Bowerbirds

8. I bought this sweet dress at Goodwill in Tallahassee

9. I tried on some other stuff I didn't buy:

I think that's all for now! Happy November (this is my favorite time of year!)

she was the queen of the rummage sale, the curator of a great collage
Aight. So. My name is Becca and I'm a thriftaholic.
Sometime last week (I don't remember when) I went to the G'ville Community Ministry thrift store again and tried on this beaute:

Didn't get it though, cuz tops are $3 there. I since found out they're doing 50% off on ladies blouses the rest of this month, but I'm not sure if this would count as a blouse. I would personally call it a jacket, but it was on the rack with other blouses. You never know how they might define certain things at thrift stores, and some things defy definition.
Like this (from thrifting trip to same store yesterday):

Is it a sweater? A shirt? A pullover? I don't know. Whatev. I didn't buy it cuz well...I have a few tops that are kinda the same idea already.
Same goes for this shirt:

Although I really like the pastel rainbow colors. So if it didn't make me look all fat and frumpy, I mighta bought it.
This was on the 50 cent rack and looked cool on the hanger:

I love peachy-pinks and lace, but when I put it on the collar was all weird and felt funny and awkward.
But here are two sweaters I DID buy because I cannot resist gem sweaters apparently.

That is something I will probably wear all the time because cardigans are sorta my staple piece. Of course I probably have like 50 of them, but you gotta have one to match any outfit, don'tcha know!
Anyways...this pic doesn't do this one justice:

I should have done a close-up. Because the detailing is really nice and looks like an easter egg. I am drawn to anything seafoam-colored also. Did I mention?
Them I went to Salarmy and saw THESE AMAZING PANTZ:

Look at that waist detail!!!!!!

I was scanning the jeans racks for acid wash and when I pulled these babies out I was even more blown away by the waist. But alas, too big. They don't look terribly too big in these pics though. Maybe I should have bought them and gotten a belt or wear them with a sweater and tuck it in. HAHA!!!!
I dunno. At a store I went to between those 2 stores I actually came across a pair of authentic Doc Martens 2 sizes too big for me for $6.50. I almost bought them thinking "I'll get some inserts and wear really thick socks." But I dunno. Has anyone ever made a pair of shoes 2 sizes too big work for them?? It just seems not too often that you come across authentic Docs, but then again, I haven't been actively looking that long. But these were also pretty worn. Which can look kinda cool on these kinda shoes BUT the bottoms were even worn almost smooth---like there was no tread left hardly, so I wonder how practical that woulda been anyway.
I did, however, buy a pair of cuffed pixie boots at the first store that were a size too small. But I could still get my foot in and I've been reading about how to stretch them. They might actually be only a half size too small. Depends. But I've been looking for them so hard!!! I didn't take a pic, but they look kind like these but brown:

Also, hahahah lookit this bag at Salarmy:

I wish I actually needed more bags because I woulda got it.
I also found a bunch of suspenders at Hospice Attic and I'd been looking for suspenders for awhile, but now I can't remember what for, so I couldn't choose a color. They had some mustard yellow ones, and that's one of my fave colors, but wtf would I wear those with? I dunno.
But yeah. There are certain things that always grab my attention whilst thrifting:
mustard yellow
teal
seafoam
peach/nude/baby pink
lace
rhinestones/beading/sequins/shiny things
fringe
acid wash
animal print
native american-inspired anything
cats
florals
plaid
rainbowness
Hmmm...is that all?
Anyways...I still don't know what to be for Halloween!!!! I was thinking of being a Midwest Diva, but I don't have any gold pants or gold shoes. Sigh.
